Stryder Smith
8thU GIRLS
-
Stryder comes from a long line of high school and collegiate athletes and coaches. Introduced to basketball at an early age by his mother—a former high school standout—he quickly developed a deep love for the game.
From elementary school through high school, Stryder competed in organized leagues and travel teams, and when he wasn’t with a team, he was playing pick-up games with friends. The gym was always home, especially during those harsh Utah winters.
Although he went on to play collegiate baseball, his passion for basketball never faded. “I remember leaving baseball practice and heading straight to the gym to run with the men’s team. I could not get enough.”
Today, that passion has evolved into coaching. Stryder is a student of the game who loves studying, teaching, and mentoring athletes. His mission is not only to develop skilled players, but to fuel their passion, build their discipline, and challenge them to excel—on and off the court.
When Stryder is not coaching, he works as a teacher in the area. He spends his free time surrounded by his wife and daughters, playing in Saturday morning pick-up games, leading a Bible study, and cheering on his beloved Celtics!
